History
The Town of Calera was originally founded as the Town of Cale, sometimes called Cale Switch, in 1887. The first authorized Post Office for Cale, Indian Territory, was established on November 30, 1889. In 1889, a new post office was established with the name Sterret and remained Sterret, I.T., until 1911. Later in 1911, the Town and the Railroad agreed to a final name change to Calera.
